CANTON, Ill. – A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection to an alleged threat made against an elementary school in Canton.
25 News reports Ryane Flatt was taken into custody at his home, after police say he allegedly stated he was going to Lincoln Elementary School and “shoot up this school.”
Flatt is charged with making a terrorist threat and disorderly conduct.
Multiple agencies were involved in the investigation, including sheriff’s offices in Peoria, Woodford, and Fulton Counties, the Fulton County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Veteran’s Crisis Hotline.

A suspect has been arrested in connection to an alleged school shooting threat in Canton.
The district had placed all schools on a soft lockdown after Lincoln School reportedly received a threat through Facebook Messenger that a school shooting would take place on Monday.
Superintendent Tad DeRenzy says Canton Police took a suspect into custody in relation to the threat, thanking them for their “swift and decisive response.”
He says there is no longer a threat to any schools in the district.

CANTON, Ill. – Officials at Canton Union School District #66 say an investigation is underway after the district was alerted to a potential threat next week.
Superintendent Tad DeRenzy says Lincoln School was alerted to a threat Wednesday via Facebook Messenger of a potential school shooting on Monday, April 29th.
He says the threat was reported to the Canton Police Department to determine the credibility and source of it.
DeRenzy says heightened security measures have been implemented at all district schools, including extra police presence, and soft lockdowns are in place.
