PEORIA, Ill. – The mother of eight-year-old Navin Jones will spend a century behind bars after pleading guilty in relation to his death last year.
Stephanie Jones was sentenced to the maximum of 100 years in the Illinois Department of Correction Thursday after pleading guilty in December.
Navin was found to have been malnourished and suffered from a number of injuries at the hands of Stephanie and his father, Brandon Walker.
Walker was found guilty of Navin’s death in December and sentenced to life in prison.
At the sentencing hearing, the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says Stephanie Jones claimed to have a mental illness and was sorry for what had happened.
But Judge John Vespa said “it wasn’t bad enough you starved him to death. You had to beat him, too.”
Stephanie Jones will have to serve 100% of her sentence.
