PEORIA, Ill. – Some hiking trails in the Peoria-area did not escape damage from this weekend’s heavy rains.
Forest Park Nature Center says some closures of trails have occurred due to flood damage.
Parts of central Illinois received up to two inches of rain this weekend, along with a flood watch issued on Saturday.
Trails affected include section E of Valley Trail, section S of Possum Path, section C of Prairie Path at the bridge, and the Wake Robin Trail access point off of High Point Terrace.
The center tells people not to attempt to cross flooded trails and to obey caution and closure signs. It’s also encouraging people to report hazards by calling (309) 686-3360.
