UPDATED 11:29 A.M.
PEORIA, Ill. – Severe weather will appear to miss the Peoria area on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service office in Lincoln predicts that severe storms will stay well south of central Illinois, and track through southern Illinois near East St. Louis, Mt. Vernon, and Carbondale.
Meteorologist Daryl Onton says there will be some strong storm threats later in the evening on Wednesday from a system that forms in Iowa, but will weaken by the time it reaches the Peoria area.
“Those would probably produce marginally severe hail and severe wind gusts, possibly to about 60 MPH,” Onton said.
The storms are expected to arrive in the Peoria-area by around 7:00 P.M. and be gone by around midnight.
